The FAQ.
Real questions, real answers. If your question isn't here, hit the contact form and ask — I'll answer personally.
Who's NOT a good fit?
If you're looking to launch a Shopify store and sell physical products online, this isn't the right fit. The Dust Bunny is built for service-based businesses — landscapers, contractors, fishing guides, local trades, professionals, salons, studios. The kind of work where customers need to find you, trust you, and call you. We build digital footprints, brands, and traffic engines — not e-commerce funnels.
What if my industry is super niche?
Even better. The more specific your trade, the less competition you have online — niche businesses often punch way above their weight in search once they actually have a real site. So far I've built for landscapers, pipeline contractors operating across 28 states, charter fishing guides, and site-prep/demolition crews. If you can explain what you do and who buys it, we can build a site that finds them. Don't worry about being too weird, too small, or too specific — that's usually the advantage.
How much does a site cost?
Builds are $1,000 for site design and light branding. That's a fully custom, SEO-ready, AI-SEO-ready site — not a template. You're getting the kind of work agencies charge $8–10k for. Heads up: no work begins until the build is paid for (or your first Klarna installment goes through). Keeps things clean on both ends.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes — we accept Klarna, so you can split your build into easy installments instead of paying upfront in full. And remember: a business website is a fully deductible business expense. Talk to your accountant, but odds are you're writing it off.
Do you accept anything besides money?
Heh — actually, yes. I'll happily barter services for unopened collectable whiskeys or firearms. Firearms need to ship to a nearby FFL dealer before the project kicks off — the build doesn't start until the bottle's in hand or the transfer is cleared and ready for pickup. Reach out if you want to talk valuation.
How long does it take?
From the kickoff call, expect 3–5 days for the first cut. If you've got your info, photos, and feedback ready to go and communication stays tight, I can turn a site around in as little as 24 hours. The full project including questionnaire, mood board, and revisions usually runs 1–2 weeks — the timeline really just tracks how fast you can move. Good communication = fast site.
What's actually included in a build?
Custom design from scratch (no recycled templates), responsive layout that works on every device, technical SEO baked in from line one, AI SEO so assistants like ChatGPT and Google's AI can recommend you, a working contact form, Google Business Profile setup help, and deployment to a modern host. One free revision round is included.
What's 'AI SEO' and is it really included?
It's structuring your site so AI assistants (ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity) can confidently cite you when people ask them for recommendations in your industry. Yes, it's included on every build. As more searches move to AI assistants, this is increasingly where customers find businesses.
Do you handle photos and content?
Stock photography works for plenty of builds and we can absolutely launch with it. But if you're chasing a real luxury-brand feel, your own photos and videos are the single biggest upgrade you can make. We can ship with stock and swap in custom shots later, or you can supply your own from day one and the site will look the part immediately.
What about hosting fees?
Hosting and domain costs are separate — you pay those directly to the provider (e.g. GoDaddy for the domain, Netlify or similar for hosting). That's intentional: you own and control everything from day one. No monthly fee to me, no lock-in. Total third-party cost is typically $15–$25/year for a basic domain and free-to-cheap for hosting depending on traffic. Heads up: the exact domain you want might already be taken, or be a premium name with a higher price tag. Do a little research before falling in love with a specific URL — and have a backup or two ready.
Can you help me register a domain?
Yes — I'll help you pick something memorable and walk you through the registration. But you'll buy it on your own card so the domain stays in your name and under your control from day one. Same goes for the hosting account. You own it all.
I already have a site I hate. Can you replace it?
That's literally the pitch. About half of the businesses I work with come in with an existing site that's outdated, slow, or just doesn't represent the work. We rebuild it cleanly and you keep your existing domain — no lost traffic, no broken links.
Do I own the site after?
Yes. Everything I build is yours — the code, the design, the domain, the hosting account. No lock-in, no monthly platform fee, no "if you leave we delete your site." If you ever want to take it to another developer, you can.
How do revisions work?
Every project includes one free revision round after the first cut to dial in anything that isn't quite right. Additional revisions are $250 each — you only pay for the changes you actually want.
Do you offer ongoing maintenance after launch?
Yep — and you've got options. Small changes (quick copy swaps, image updates, minor tweaks — roughly 20 minutes of work per month) stay on the house. Bigger one-off edits are billed at $250/hour. Or grab a retainer package between $100–$500/month for predictable ongoing support — scope varies based on what you actually need, so reach out and we'll narrow it down together. No mandatory retainer, no surprise invoices.
What if I need to add an online store later?
If you outgrow service-based work and want to start selling products online, you've got solid options. Shopify is purpose-built for e-commerce and will outperform a bolted-on shop for most use cases. If you want it to feel like a real brand from day one, there are great Shopify specialists out there and I'm happy to point you in the right direction. Either way, your existing Dust Bunny site keeps doing its job: building your footprint and driving the traffic.
What about logos and branding?
Some brand and logo work is fine. If you come in with an ugly logo, I'd rather make it awesome — your brand is too great to get passed up because of lame branding. If you're starting from scratch and need a full identity, let's talk — we can figure something out.
